I know I'm jumping on a bandwagon here, but, after reading such entertaining blogs as LBMM, VicandSarahSeidel, and JaxCapertons, I thought "Hey, maybe someone would be entertained with my little vignettes of life".
To start our little story time, I will tell you all about the joys of employee evaluations. Being the nursing supervisor has many perks, one of them being annual employee evaluations. This is my first year to participate in this fun adventure. Today, I finished all 25 of them. Now as much as you may have heard me "comment" about my staff before, they are, for the most part, decent employees. However, 3 of them have chosen to engage in "less than desirable" behavior. Their antics more than make up for the rest of my little brood. I actually made one of them cry...I'm not sure how I feel about that. Her evaluation should not have been a surprise; heavens knows she has had to have many visits to the Principal's office. For whatever reason, she does not play well with others and insists that she is the victim. This same person got her panties in a wad over a basket drawing for Nurses Week. She claimed the drawing was not fair and proceeded to pitch a fit that would've put a teething two year old to shame. So in response, I informed her that as part of her annual evaluation she would be attending Professional Development classes on Interpersonal Communication Skills and Personal Conflict Resolution in the Workplace. She wanted to know if it was required. When I informed her that "why yes, it is required", she actually asked me what would happen if she refused! "Really? You really don't know the answer to that one?" I actually feel a little sorry for her, because she is always unhappy. Even when she is working her favorite part of the clinic, she finds something to complain about. Maybe I should task her with fixing it...hmm...something to ponder. Anyways, I am now just ranting more than I am telling you a story. Forgive me. I will make sure the next post is less dramatic and more entertaining. Needless to say, my staff will provide many post topics for this little literary foray. Now onto enjoying a Saturday night of not fighting Kinsey for possession of the remote control.
